Catalyst H2™: Accelerating North America’s Green Hydrogen Economy

The Premier Market-Making Global Green Hydrogen Conference

OPPORTUNITY

The generous tax credits for clean and green hydrogen, now available through the Inflation Reduction Act, paired with the accelerated project development catalyzed through the announced hydrogen hub funding, create the needed commercial certainty to develop a vibrant, clean national hydrogen strategy to combat fossil fuels.

Against this backdrop, Catalyst H2™ is an inspiring gathering produced by Strategen for the Green Hydrogen Coalition (GHC) featuring keynote speakers and presenters across a variety of sectors in the green hydrogen ecosystem.

Aiming to unite, create, and share ideas, strategies, and pragmatic action, Catalyst H2 connects change agents and market makers to accelerate North America’s green hydrogen economy, facilitating connectivity and alignment among key actors, including multi-sectoral buyers, investors, innovative technology and solutions providers, developers, policymakers, community leaders, and global movers and shakers.

APPROACH

Since 2022, Strategen has been responsible for Catalyst H2’s:

  • Program Strategy: content strategy and themes, identifying speakers, thought leadership, and presentation development

  • Program Development: speaker recruiting, outreach, training, tracking, and logistics

  • Project Management Office (PMO): budget tracking, project planning, resource allocation, documentation, project monitoring, process improvements, and best practices

  • Promotion & Marketing: branding, event website, media relations, signage, run of show, supporting partnerships, blogs, e-mail distros, and marketing campaigns

  • Event Execution: event preparation, staff training, venue and third-party contracting, vendor selection, on-site event support

In 2022 and 2023, Catalyst H2 was held near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, setting the stage for a green hydrogen conference in one of the U.S.’s first-scaled green hydrogen hubs. The three-day event is uniquely interactive, featuring networking opportunities, immersive learning, equipment and technology displays, guided tours of hydrogen-powered equipment, and exhibitors.

In 2023, the Catalyst H2 program featured concurrent sessions, cohosted by EPRI and the Renewable Thermal Collaborative, and green hydrogen hub leaders from California, Texas, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, and Louisiana to share how they are shaping the future of clean hydrogen domestically and internationally. Key topics also included the role of green hydrogen in creating an inclusive clean energy ecosystem, green ammonia production and trade, innovative strategies for transport and storage, new production pathways, workforce development, and climate integrity and safety, among others.

RESULTS

“I want to commend Janice, the Strategen team, and all of you. One of my key takeaways from this conference is that we are facing a lot of headwinds and leadership matters. It was great to see bold and innovative leaders like Mayor Parris on stage and hear from other leaders representing different stakeholder groups. We need to have all these voices at the table,” said Denita Willoughby, CEO, Big Energy Group.

“I know what it takes to put on an event like this, and this event was spectacular! The level of networking, expertise, and engagement was so topical. Keynotes were on point, execution was excellent, loved Whova, and the entire production was so professional. I could just focus on networking and learning,” said Jeffrey Benoit, Vice President of Clean Energy Solutions, PSM.

Catalyst H2 features more than 70 speakers and 400 industry attendees.
