Dhruv Bhatnagar
Director, Emerging Technologies
Dhruv Bhatnagar is a Director of Emerging Technologies at Strategen, where he focuses on supporting clients on issues related to the integration of emerging clean energy technologies, evaluating them through technical, economic, regulatory, and equity lenses. He has experience across a variety of technology and energy topics including energy storage, hydrogen, renewables such as offshore wind and marine energy, power system planning, energy equity, microgrids, hydroelectricity, electric vehicle integration, energy efficiency, and demand response.
Prior to joining Strategen, Dhruv served as a Senior Power Systems Research Engineer with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, leading research into the integration of new grid technologies, focusing on capacity expansion and production cost modeling, regulatory barrier analyses, and direct community engagement for equitable energy outcomes. He previously worked at Hawaiian Electric Company, leading their residential demand response programs and helping to develop a new demand response services structure. Before that, Dhruv served as an Energy Analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, advising the Commission on utility grid modernization, emerging technologies, and rate design. Dhruv has also worked as a Power Systems Engineer for Sandia National Laboratories and as a Process Plant Engineer with Nestle Purina.
Dhruv holds a master’s degree in Energy Science, Technology, and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
